Axis Medical was founded in 1996 by its Managing Director, Peter J. Smith, previously European Director of Xomed Inc. Originally based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, the company moved in 2006 to spacious new offices in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, which it shares with Corinthian Surgical Ltd.

Axis Medical specialises in consumable products for Otolaryngology, Plastic and General Surgery, and has 6 Independent Sales Representatives in England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland is covered by a sub-distributor.
